Hi There!

You can describe me as an optimistic non-conformist.  I believe in the power of love and its ability to drive connection, creativity, and change.  I believe optimal is a pipe dream and incremental is a cop-out.  However,  drastically better is closer than you think.  It requires the courage to change and the willingness to innovate.

Hi, I’m Wayne Burrell.  For the past 14 years, I’ve helped companies improve business process across dozens of business functions.  All by applying design thinking techniques to generate innovative ideas and solutions.  From aviation to architecture, from healthcare to hospitality.  From finance to facilities, from education to ethics.

Innovate or Die!

For businesses, innovation was once an ideal. Now it’s a strategic imperative.  The question then is, “how do I innovate“? Do you install innovation like a piece of tech? Or do you just outsource it? Innovation is simply creativity that impacts the bottom line.  It is fueled by the creative ideas that come from an open culture focused on the right problems – the ones that matter most to the customer.

The Right Problems

As a leader in your organization, you’re facing many difficult challenges.  Some of which are so difficult to define let alone solve.  You’re concerned about solving these problems efficiently, effectively and under budget.  Then in the back of your mind, there’s this “Are these even the right problems?

Design at Work

Using design thinking you allow your customers to shine a light on the right problems.  First, you thoughtfully design interviews,  gather voices, sentiments, and images. Then you carefully analyze your findings.  Then with a clear set of principles, you can iteratively design effective solutions.  Some, however, choose to use the set of principles as strategic initiatives, organization mission statements, or communication triangle components.

Therefore, by using a design thinking approach not only will you have more targeted solutions, your employees will become more engaged, empowered and empathetic towards your customers.  That shift in perspective alone will influence a more purpose-driven decision-making approach which will scale the impact of your company’s mission.
