This new year snuck up on me. I wasn’t as prepared as I’d hoped to be, but I accept that. And hey, maybe that’s the point. Instead of stressing over what I didn’t get done, I decided to embrace what is. That’s why acceptance is my word for 2025.
Acceptance is a mindset that frees me from stress and resistance. It allows me to face reality with an open heart and steady mind, creating space for thoughtful action, clarity, and inner freedom.
I used to believe peace came from eliminating stress. But I now realize stress is inevitable—it’s part of life. We find peace not by eradicating stress but by accepting it. For more insights on how acceptance can lead to inner peace, check out Embracing Acceptance: A Path to Inner Peace.
Acceptance doesn’t mean giving up or being permissive. It’s about recognizing what’s in my control, setting and enforcing boundaries where needed, and taking meaningful action when possible.
My word for 2025 came to me in a whole new way during the latter part of 2024. It became a way to take the pressure off—a way to face insecurities, weaknesses, and even failures with self-compassion. I started with self-compassion and acceptance for a whole host of things including accepting:
These weren’t easy shifts, but they were freeing. They reminded me that acceptance isn’t about giving up—rather acceptance is about letting go of resistance to reality so I can focus on what truly matters.
